There is No Urgency Here
Overview
Limited edition photography book, including a handmade book with poetry and 7 original photographs by Tala Hajjar.
Foreword by Rabih Kayrouz.
The book gathers images that linger on subtle gestures and suspended moments — the quiet spaces where time stretches and the ordinary becomes unexpectedly poetic.
Each frame holds a pause, much like the silence in a piece of music — the moment between notes that gives the melody its meaning. It is in this pause, this held breath, that the images find their depth.
There Is No Urgency Here invites the viewer into a slower rhythm, asking them not simply to look, but to dwell — to recognize the power of the in-between, where nothing rushes and everything resonates.
About the Author
Tala Hajjar
With a background in design and collaborations with notable fashion and jewellery houses, Tala Hajjar went on to co-found the Starch Foundation, championing new creative talent across disciplines. Over time, her practice expanded beyond design into a more personal exploration of form, stillness, and the everyday. Today, she works across ceramics and photography, shaping a visual language that is both contemplative and quietly playful. Her ceramic creatures — anthropomorphic, witty, and functional — sit alongside her photographic studies of time and pause, revealing a consistent curiosity for objects, gestures, and the spaces between them. Her work moves easily between disciplines, always returning to a deep attention to detail, materiality, and the poetry of the ordinary.
