Meet the Author

Carmen Perez Gonzalez

Carmen Pérez González is a Cologne based postdoctoral researcher in history of indigenous Iranian photography, with a wider interest in local practices in 19th century Asian photography; neuroscience and photography, and early astronomical photography. She holds a M.A. in Astrophysics (University of Barcelona, 1993), an A.B.D. in Fine Arts (Photography, University of Barcelona, 2005), and a doctorate in Art History (Leiden University, 2010), where she graduated with a dissertation entitled “A Comparative Visual Analysis of 19th century Iranian Portrait Studio Photography and Persian Painting”, awarded with the ICAS Best PhD Thesis Prize in Humanities in March 2011 (Honolulu, Hawaii).
